2018 MNIAAI FIRE INVESTIGATION CONFERENCE

CALL FOR PRESENTATION PROPOSALS

In preparation for the Minnesota IAAI’s 2019 Annual Conference (ITC), the conference Training Committee is issuing a call for presentation proposals. The MNIAAI’s 2019

Annual conference is scheduled for March 27-29, 2019, in St.Cloud MN. 

Any individual who is interested in sharing their knowledge with other professionals in the field of fire investigation is encouraged to submit a presentation proposal for this conference. To have your proposal considered, submission should including the following: 

  • Presentation title,
  • Presentation length (note: 1 to 4 hour blocks are offered),
  • Typed presentation abstract (between 150-200 words),
  • Target audience (crossover emphasis articulated),
  • Instructor resume or curriculum vitae, to include any public speaking or training experience, and
  • Prior presentation offerings.

Proposals are due by July 15, 2018

MNIAAI is sponsoring an IAAI Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Class September 18-20, 2018.
It will be held at the Hutchinson Fire Station 205 3rd Ave SE Hutchinson, MN 55350
 

This intense two and a half day Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Course guides the students through testifying as an Expert Witness in a real arson case. The course requires more than 40 hours of preliminary case work, for which six weeks are given to prepare and submit before date of class. This includes taking and passing The Scientific Method for Fire and Explosion Investigation-Updated 2009 (3hours) CFITrainer.Net module; updating or writing your CV, preparing an opinion analysis and creating two courtroom exhibits. You will give a deposition and work with an attorney to develop testimony plan. You will be in court a full day; experience cross examination and re-direct with qualified legal attorneys. If you have never been called upon as an Expert Witness, this class will give you the opportunity to better understand the task of preparing for court and experience testifying in a real courtroom environment with attorneys.
